​First Prize winners of the 2025 CIMCA International Chamber Music Competition, Aida Piano Trio was formed in 2023 in London by violinist Esther Zaglia, cellist Clélia Le Bret and pianist Sofía Medina. Since its formation, the trio has developed a distinctive musical voice characterised by intensity, refinement and a strong sense of ensemble.

 

The trio has performed across the UK, Italy, Spain and France, appearing at venues and festivals including Bechstein Hall, the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, Concerti della Stauffer in Cremona and the Rencontres Musicales du Château d’Ainay-le-Vieil in France. Recent and forthcoming engagements include Centro Botín in Santander, Conway Hall in London and the Leeds International Concert Series.

 

In 2025, Aida Piano Trio was awarded First Prize at the CIMCA International Chamber Music Competition in Arnuero, Spain, and was subsequently invited to perform at Centro Botín in Santander. The trio was also selected for the IMS Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music programme, where they worked closely with composer and conductor Thomas Adès.

 

Aida Piano Trio has worked with distinguished musicians including Enrico Pace , Xavier Gaugnepain, Dina Parakhina and Anna Gebert , and has received further guidance from leading chamber musicians through international masterclasses and academies, including members of Trio Debussy and the Danel Quartet, as well as Marc Zetterqvist and Anton Kernjak.

 

The trio has been in residence at the Stauffer Academy in Cremona, where they worked with Bruno Giuranna and Enrico Pace. From 2026, they continue their artistic development at the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB), where they study with Patrick Jüdt.

 

Their repertoire spans the major works of the piano trio tradition, from Haydn and Beethoven through the Romantic and 20th-century repertoire, including Schubert, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Brahms and Shostakovich. Aida Piano Trio is committed to bringing the depth, vitality and expressive range of this repertoire to audiences across Europe.

Esther Zaglia began studying the violin at the age of six and trained at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, graduating with top marks and honours. She later moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music with Radu Blidar, completing her Bachelor of Music and Master of Performance with highest honours. Her studies were supported by scholarships at the Royal College of Music as well as by the De Sono Associazione per la Musica scholarship. Based in London, she collaborates with orchestras including the London Mozart Players and has won a trial with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. She has been selected for the Philharmonia Orchestra Instrumental Fellowship Programme (2026), the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Orchestral Scheme, and the Orpheus Foundation Programme (2025–2026). She has received several competition awards and has performed in venues including Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall.​

French cellist Clélia Le Bret has established herself as a dynamic young artist with a growing presence on the European chamber and orchestral scene. She began her musical training in France at the CRR de Rueil-Malmaison before continuing at the CRR de Paris with Hélène Dautry. She later moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music with Professor Alexander Chaushian, graduating with First-Class Honours in both her Bachelor’s (2023) and Master’s (2025) degrees as a Charles Ravel Scholar. Highlights include performances at Wigmore Hall as part of the RCM String Showcase (2023 and 2025). Last Autumn, she notably played Tchaikovsky’s sextet alongside LSO concertmaster, Benjamin Marquise Gilmore. Clélia also enjoys a varied orchestral career. In 2025, she was selected to be a fellow of the Sinfonia Smith Square Orchestra. Across the years, Clélia has performed in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Musiikkitalo in Helsinki.

​Spanish pianist Sofía Medina is an international prize-winning performer recognised for her versatility as a soloist, chamber musician and historical-performance specialist. She graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music in London, where she completed her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Artist Diploma, and was later awarded the Mills Williams Junior Fellowship under the mentorship of Dina Parakhina. She has received first prizes at international competitions including the Kendal Taylor Beethoven Competition in London and the Danubia Talents Competition in Budapest. Medina performs regularly across Europe and is also dedicated to historical performance, studying harpsichord with Robert Woolley and fortepiano with Geoffrey Govier.
